Nestled in Newark, NJ, La Farandula stands out as a gem for authentic Dominican cuisine. This restaurant invites guests to indulge in a myriad of traditional dishes, from the comforting Arroz y Habichuela to savory Lunch De Bacalao and Chivo. It’s clear from customer feedback that La Farandula excels not just in food, but also in service. Patrons rave about the attentive staff—like Mariela—who ensure every visit feels like home. Marissa hails it as a go-to spot for “real amazing authentic Dominican food,” while others praise the generous portions and affordability. The Frituras, especially the Chicharron de Pollo and Sweet Plantains, are highlights, offering a delightful crunch that pairs beautifully with the rich flavors of their entrées. The restaurant is well-maintained, creating a warm atmosphere perfect for family gatherings or casual outings with friends. However, a point to note is the predominant Spanish-speaking staff, which may be a hurdle for some, but it only adds to the authenticity of the experience. Overall, La Farandula is a must-visit for anyone craving a taste of the Dominican Republic, delivering both flavor and a welcoming ambiance that keeps diners coming back for more.

Coming back here after 10 years, the food still tastes amazing and the customer service is always attentive. Thank you Mariela. Great place to grab a home cooked lunch.

I love coming here. The food is cheap and great. They are not stingy with the food and give you a lot so your getting food worth the money. This is the only place I’d go for any Dominican/latino food. The only thing I will say that other reviews are saying is that everyone speaks spanish, but what can you expect it’s a dominican restaurant, they aren’t going to speak only english.

The staff is very friendly and the music is Kept at a comfortable volume level. No need to shout to be heard. A great place to go eat. I am actually a regular now. After I moved to the are this place has become a repetitive destination.

The food is really good. I had the pulled pork with onions on top, rice and beans & black beans. Pork was very tender. Only issue was the portion. You get a nice amount of rice but not enough meat. I had to order a side of the pulled pork. Also everything was charged separately. Usually when ordering this meal everything comes as one order. Everything was charged separately down to the fried plantains, which I didn't want to begin with. Besides that the food was good. Will go back to try something different, maybe get more meat this time.
